About Sarah Brown


Sarah Brown AM is the Chief Executive Officer of Purple House, a leading Indigenous community-controlled organisation delivering innovative dialysis and healthcare services across remote Australia. She has worked alongside Indigenous Directors for more than 23 years, helping build a globally recognised model of community-led healthcare.


A respected leader in Indigenous health, Sarah has dedicated over three decades to improving outcomes for Aboriginal communities, ensuring people can remain on Country while receiving life-saving treatment.


Sarah holds a Master of Nursing, a Graduate Diploma in Aboriginal Education, and a Graduate Diploma in Health Service Management. Her career includes work as a remote area nurse, health service manager, and university lecturer.


Her contributions have been widely recognised. She was named HESTA Australia’s Nurse of the Year in 2017 and awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2020 for her service to community health and Indigenous communities.


Sarah Brown AM is a featured speaker at the 2027 Rotary District 9685 Conference in Mudgee.
