Peter Gleeson

Peter Gleeson, Co-Founder, AMPE Foundation 

Peter Gleeson is the Founder of AMPE Foundation, a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Botany Randwick, and a passionate advocate for education, equity and community empowerment who believes lasting change begins with opportunity and local ownership.

Inspired by his mother Alice’s childhood education at St John’s Bukono Primary School in Eastern Uganda, Peter visited the school in 2019 and was moved by its rundown condition.

That experience led him to establish AMPE Foundation, a faith-based Australian charity working to reduce poverty through quality education and community development.

He now leads a RAWCS-registered project, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Botany Randwick and the Rotary Club of Kampala City, to renovate the school and establish a Community Resource Centre serving more than 1,500 students.

A recent UNSW Economics graduate who himself benefited from access and equity pathways, Peter has served as a Gateway Student Ambassador and Access, Equity & Inclusion Senior Student Ambassador. Through these roles he has mentored hundreds of high-school students, spoken at major university events on diversity and educational opportunity, and currently works as a Senior Policy Officer in the Australian Government.

Peter is committed to strong governance, transparent partnerships and sustainable, community-driven impact.

At the 2027 Rotary District 9685 Conference he will share the story of AMPE Foundation’s work in Uganda, the power of Rotary partnerships across continents, and practical insights into how education and local leadership can transform communities for generations to come.
