Martha Jabour OAM is one of Australia's most respected advocates for victims of crime, dedicating more than 30 years to supporting families affected by homicide while driving meaningful change in victim support, trauma recovery and justice reform.

As Executive Director and CEO of the Homicide Victims' Support Group (Aust) Ltd, Martha has helped thousands of families navigate the devastating impact of losing a loved one through violent crime. Her leadership has transformed the organisation into Australia's leading support service for homicide victims, providing counselling, advocacy, court support, education and practical assistance to families when they need it most.

Motivated by her own lived experience of profound personal loss, Martha has devoted her life to ensuring no family faces tragedy alone. Her vision led to the creation of Grace's Place, the world's first purpose-built residential trauma recovery centre for children, young people and families affected by homicide. The centre provides a safe environment where those impacted by trauma can begin their journey of healing, resilience and hope.

Martha's extraordinary contribution to the Australian community has been recognised with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the community and victims of crime. In 2025, she was honoured as the NSW Local Hero in the Australian of the Year Awards, recognising her unwavering commitment to supporting victims and advocating for systemic reform.

A respected leader in public policy, Martha has worked closely with governments, police, justice agencies and community organisations to improve outcomes for victims of crime. Her advocacy has contributed to significant reforms, including the establishment of New South Wales' first independent Victims of Crime Commissioner, ensuring victims have a stronger voice and greater support throughout the justice system.

Beyond her professional achievements, Martha is a proud Rotarian and Past President of the Rotary Club of Carlingford, living Rotary's ideal of Service Above Self through compassionate leadership and community service. She continues to inspire volunteers, community leaders and organisations to create positive and lasting impact.

At the Rotary District 9685 Conference – Mudgee 2027, Martha will share a deeply moving and inspiring keynote exploring resilience, compassion, leadership through adversity and the extraordinary difference individuals and communities can make in the lives of others.
